Bolivia and Spain in cooperation against drug trafficking

Deputy Minister for Social Defense and Controlled Substances Jaime Mamani and Spanish Secretary of State for Security Rafael Pérez met in Madrid with an agenda focused on that issue.

“The signing of the agreement will give a new dimension to the relations between the two countries in matters of great importance to our citizens,” the Spanish Ministry of the Interior stated, quoted in the Bolivian Ministry’s publication.

According to the Spanish side, it will continue “years of close cooperation between the two Governments and the security forces, with outstanding results,” the publication noted.

For the Bolivian authorities, this agreement aims to fight drug trafficking and prevent the consumption of narcotics in Bolivia, for which Spain is committed to generating advisory and coordination actions, along with the Latin American Committee for Internal Security.
