Chilavert Lashes Out at 2030 World Cup Decision: South America Deserves Respect

FIFA’s decision to organize the 2030 World Cup in six countries (Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay) and over three continents (Europe, Africa and America) has left no one indifferent.

Some see this as a way to please all the candidates and have been very critical of it, and this has been the case of Jose Luis Chilavert. The former Paraguayan soccer player has harshly charged against CONMEBOL through his Twitter account (now called X).

“CORRUPBOL took the Copa Libertadores final to Europe and now the World Cup final, total failure, South America deserves respect and the World Cup should be in Uruguay. Wherever Dominguez is, it is total failure,” posted the second highest scoring goalkeeper of all time.

Chilavert believes that the 2030 World Cup should be played in its entirety in South America on the occasion of the centenary of the first World Cup.

Chilavert also goes agains Haedo Valdez

The former player has received a lot of support through social media after his words.

In addition, he also criticized Nelson Haedo Valdez, another Paraguayan soccer legend, in an Instagram post where the former Hercules and Valencia player thanked CONMEBOL for bringing the World Cup to his country.

Chilavert was frank and did not bite his tongue: “Nelson, I thought you were smart, you ended up being a vile rake of the corrupt of soccer. You defend Dominguez because he gave a job to your sister in CORRUPBOL, shame on you for going to the World Cup on your own, they are killing soccer in South America and you defend the corrupt. What labor is going to give for a game, inform yourself before saying stupid things. The corrupt people of soccer have turned you into a crawling kitten.”
