Bolivia Burns, Opposition Leader Arrested by Police and Supporters Accused of Kidnapping

Bolivia is on fire after a right-wing opposition leader was arrested by the country’s police.

It is the Governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho , who was arrested by the Bolivian police, Wednesday (28/12/2022). He was accused of trying to stage a coup .

Camacho led anti-government demonstrations in Santa Cruz in the past month and led to a strike that brought activity to a halt in the area.

Camacho’s supporters strongly condemned Camacho’s arrest.

They accused the arrests of kidnapping , and decided to take to the streets to protest .

However , the Attorney General’s Office said Camacho was arrested because of an attempted coup.

Camacho went on strike, over delays in conducting the state census.

The census will likely allow Santa Cruz to secure more tax revenue and political power.
