The government of Skopje on Wednesday signed a 1.3 billion euro deal with Turkey’s Enka and its joint venture partner, the American Bechtel, to build highways that will connect it to ports in Albania, Bulgaria and Greece, the Skopje government said. Nova Macedonia.

Enka said on its website that construction will begin in 2023 and be completed within five years, highlighting the complexity of the project, which will require the construction of “34 bridges, 34 flyovers and 24 underpasses”.
North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski said after the deal was signed that the two highways “will make North Macedonia an even more important regional and international transport route and even more visible on the global investment map.”
